That works out to about 107 RPM at 165 MPH, plus a little torque
converter slippage if you have an auto.  Wow, we're talking some serious
low-end grunt there.  But then you probably have a 392, right?  :) 

Is it necessary to add some caster to the front axle to maintain
stability at 150+ speeds, or does the stock D44 work fine?

btw Have you experimented with POR-15, Hammerite, etc. to deal with the
paint flaking problem?  I once had an old F-250 with undercoating on the
top of the cab, and that was pretty tough, but that F*rd engine couldn't
push the ol' beast quite that fast.
